报告简介

Cold spray is an additive manufacturing process in which micron-sized solid particles are accelerated to supersonic speeds and then sprayed and bonded onto a substrate surface. It is an emerging technology that is able to deposit a wide variety of materials in the solid state at temperatures well below their melting points. The solid-state deposition helps to avoid the undesirable changes in chemical compositions or microstructures which are commonly associated with other deposition processes such as arc welding, laser directed energy deposition, or thermal spray. Mechanisms of the solid-state bonding are discussed first, and then emphasis is placed on how to make use of the technology to repair and restore engineering structures. Special attention will be paid to the high-value structures such as aerospace structures made of Ti alloys or defence applications where special materials are used. Methods for structural integrity assessment of the restored structures are also presented.
